Family Photography

Every family has a story that’s all their own. Each story is comprised of familial connections, unique personalities and dozens of idiosyncrasies. I try to capture all of that stuff. I like telling a family’s story via photographs.

What To Expect

I offer two types of sessions and my approach is a bit different but some elements are consistent: I don’t tell people to say cheese nor do I demand smiles. Though I work quickly, I’m patient with kids that need extra time to warm up to my camera. I try to make everyone comfortable throughout the process. I’ve been told by many clients that my sessions are remarkably painless and relaxed. Bring me your most camera shy family members because I’m pretty deft at getting great photos from those that hate to be photographed. In fact, they are my favorite people to photograph!

There is one thing the photograph must contain, the humanity of the moment.

Portrait Session

A balanced mix of traditional portraiture and lifestyle photography, these sessions typically take place outdoors at the location of your choice (or I make a recommendation). Most kids have a short window of tolerance for camera time, so I work quick and keep things simple. One location, no props or complicated setups. I’ll take a variety of group shots (entire family, mother & son, siblings, etc) and then I like to let the kids run around for some fun shots. Portrait sessions can last up 90 minutes but are usually done in less than a hour. Session fee: $350.

  • Up to 90 minutes coverage
  • Approximately 40 images
  • Private proof gallery, 6 months

Documentary Session

Your family – unscripted and unabridged. Documentary sessions are about the extraordinary moments that happen on your most ordinary days. The best location for this session is your home, where everyone is most comfortable and feels free to be themselves. No worries about wrinkled outfits or perfect hair. Parents love that they get to relax while I hang with the kids, taking photos. These sessions are two hours but if you’d like additional coverage just let me know prior to booking. TIP: This session is perfect for newborns! Session fee: $350.

  • Up to 120 minutes coverage
  • Approximately 40 images
  • Private proof gallery, 6 months

Add Polaroid portraits to your session! This add-on service yields 5-8 unique prints, yours to keep.

Q: Are the digital files included in the session fee?
No, the digital files are not included in the session fee. The high resolution files (ready for printing) can be purchased and downloaded from your proofing gallery.

Q: Should I purchase digital files from my session?
Most of my clients purchase their files because of the long-term value they provide and for archiving purposes. Purchasing digital files allows you to print your images how and when you desire. On the other hand, some people want a photo for their holiday card and a few prints so they invest in that and skip the negatives. I like to provide options so you can choose what works best for your needs. TIP: Keep an eye on your email after your session proofing gallery is published. Lots of opportunities to save $$$ on prints and negatives will be delivered to your inbox!

Q: Can I book a Documentary Session for a special event, e.g. birthday party
Yes! Send me a note with a little detail about your event and I’ll send you a custom quote.

Q: How long does it take to see images from my session?
Your private online gallery will be available within 3 - 4 weeks of your session.

Q: Why should I order prints?
Because life is too short to only view it on screens.

Q: Sounds awesome! How do I secure my session date?
A: Yay! Click HERE
